ideas for site

I think this site is a great idea and should be very useful. I wonder if you will want to compile a comprehensive list of the historic and also ongoing research articles that support the effectiveness and efficacy of chiropractic care? Perhaps that has been done elsewhere and does not need to be done here? Howard Ewert

Confusion about reference formatting

OK, I get it. I'll be back and see if I can fix #11, although I didn't see a problem with it in the first place. Maybe now I'll see it. How do I add you to my watchlist?

OK, I think I'm getting it now! But I still don't see where I made a mistake in Ref #11. DrRonF 09:06, 25 June 2012 (MST)

Well duh, I finally see what you mean. Not sure why my tired little eyes couldn't easily see that one! Notice I changed my bio a bit. Thanks for all your help Stephen. We are getting there. DrRonF 10:06, 25 June 2012 (MST)

Redirecting CMRT and Communicating on WikiChiro

[Yes we need it to redirect to Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique. I know I can figure it out but with all I have in mind to do it would be so nice to have some help.

Sorry to trouble you with this.]

I figured this out, thanks!

Fixing pages to the link pages and on the linked pages

HI Stephen,

I am trying to figure out how to have the linked pages to the lists of references that we have on the SOT, Cranial, and CMRT pages so they are consistent. I am assuming that we are taking them out of the sandbox and into the live Wiki Chiro.

However I am not clear how to link things together as you have done and when I go to the SOT, Cranial, and CMRT they are all linked differently.

I want to be consistent and have it look good so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Help with DeJarnette's Bio

Thanks so very much for your help.

I have more to do but this sets up a very nice page for him.

Much Obliged,

Posting a picture

The picture of DeJarnette was given to me by a close friend of his. I also have other pictures of him since shortly after his passing a friend of mine was allowed access to his office to take whatever pictures he wanted.Drcblum 08:22, 9 July 2012 (MST)

Dead Links and Lost References

Hi Stephen,

YES, I'm aware of a couple of dead links which I got from Scott Cuthbert, whom I already alerted earlier today to fix these. For now, they'll have to remain simply to hold a place.

I got to the end of the entire article with the correct formatting of all 58 references. Then I went to edit the reference list and removed all the ones following that were still in the incorrect, original format that I had pasted in. Unfortunately, I ALSO removed the header which said "===References===" which had the effect of purging the ENTIRE list of Wiki formatted references.

I went into my history to try to retrieve a previous version with various undo commands, but couldn't bring it up. Surely a version must exist somewhere that has most if not all of the Wiki listed 58 references. Could you retrieve these and let me know?

Good luck. and thanks.

Since no one SIGNED this message, I will have to run through the page's ory to figure out who left it. Tony.? дрсйпдц 09:11, 10 July 2012 (MST)

Great Relief---and Thanks!

Thanks so much for making the fix on my AK piece. Once I got the hang of the references, I just bulldozed my way through. Now what needs to be done is:

1. Some work on the links, where appropriate. 2. Restoring the dead links once my coauthor can address this. 3. Adding all figures, for which I'll need another tutorial.

Amazing how quickly one gets used to the referencing language!

Very best,

Help with filling an info box

Hi Stephen,

I am trying to create a text or info box on the side of a page. I tried to figure out using Wikipedia's guidelines and after an hour I thought I implore you for your help.

You can find it in my Sandbox in the DeJarnette Article.

http://en.wikichiro.org/index.php?title=User_talk:Drcblum/Sandbox1

I also made a template for what I want to fill the box -- it asked me a couple times to do it so I did:

http://en.wikichiro.org/index.php?title=Template_talk:Chiropractic_Technique_vs._Technic

Your help will be infinitely appreciated.

Thanks so much but I am concerned that I just added a bunch of information and that I might have screwed up what you have done or I might have lost my additions. Any ideas?

Drcblum 14:04, 10 July 2012 (MST)

Adding things at the same time

Great minds must think and work alike. I love your addition and it is indeed a clever idea.

Regretfully I added a whole section that I typed up and lost it when I attempted to see what you had done. Luckily I think I can re-write it.

Thanks so much! It is even better than I had hoped.

Ready to Move DeJarnette's Bio

Thanks so much for your help. I got a bit carried away but he is such an interesting character.

Once this is loaded I will start working on why it is important for chiropractor to differentiate between craniosacral and chiropractic cranial technique. This is a huge issue in our evidence base since anyone can learn craniosacral care even if they never graduated highschool and they have no responsibility to diagnose or know how to triage.

So if we do chiropractic cranial techniques yet call them craniosacral in our literature then we undermine our own evidence base on many levels.

Then I will start going through all the red unlinked links in the articles I have written and write up pages for them.

Thanks!

Drcblum 14:42, 10 July 2012 (MST)

I figured out how to move it! I feel like I am growing up.

Thanks!

Duplicating References?

Hey Steven, please check out reference #28. What am I doing wrong? Also, when referencing similar studys in the "cite paper" area what do I need to do to avoid the duplication that I THINK is causing the #28 issue? And if I cite the same paper twice, how again do I do that?? DrRonF 07:13, 11 July 2012 (MST)

PCCF students & Case studies

Hi Stephen I am back from a long summer break. I shared some ideas with other instructors about getting students involved in activates involving recording and discussing published case studies. I will give more details as we go. I hope you are doing fine and looking forward to continuing the expansion of wikiChiro.Alattar

Linking to WikiChiro from Wikipedia

HI Stephen,

Can we talk briefly about this?

If we can come up with a clear way to do this I think all the chiropractic stuff on wikipedia should be re-directed eventually to WikiChiro.

I would be willing to try a pilot project with Sacro Occipital Technique but I am not sure how to do it based on your suggestions. I am sure once I do it once I will be able to do it for the rest.

Thanks!

Linking to WikiChiro from Wikipedia

What I just did was do an external link to wiki chiro. Is that not allowed? (Unsigned by Dr.Blum)

Next week

It will be some time next week then.Alattar

Wiki Linking

Okay now I think I finally get it. I will just create a page from our wiki and post it on wikipedia and then put in an attribution template.

Is that it?

Drcblum 14:04, 16 July 2012 (MST)

I think I am ready

I corrected the posted information and created some links. The question: How chiropractic helps in __ ? will be passed to students to research for extra credit work. The idea of the project is to get students assigned to research any neurological mechanism/s that can be considered plausible in explaining the improvements. Also they will be asked to research how chiropractors handle these cases in practice. The posted information will be open to discussions and improvement by future classes. I think I am ready for the Arabic WikiChiro. I do not see the change from Japanese yet. I will start the work as soon as I have access.Alattar

Great, lets get started

looks good. I need to get editing access to start posting info. Is it possible to put it in Sandbox as my new project.Alattar

Advanced BioStrutructural Correction™

The description has been rewritten. Please remove the old and inaccurate description.

Thank you,

Dr. Jesse Jutkowitz

ABC™ Page

Thank you for changing the page to add my description.

I wish you would remove the first section because much of it is untrue:

Advanced bioStructural correction is a subluxation based technique taught and developed by Jesse J. Jutkowitz, D.C.[citation needed] NOT TRUE

ABC is centered around the idea that poor posture, caused by anterior displacement (subluxation) of vertebrae, causes compensatory misalignments that predispose the spinal cord to injury from excessive stretching of the meninges (the membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord). NOT TRUE certainly not centered around this idea.

Jutkowitz claims that vertebrae that get displaced forward get "stuck" because there is no muscle to pull them back, and that other vertebrae compensate for this by twisting[citation needed]. TRUE

Jutkowitz describes this as "the major problem in the human body" TRUE

and claims to relieve the problem by "unlocking the meninges."[citation needed] NOT TRUE

Jutkowitz claims that ABC is the most effective system of diagnosing and treating structural (biomechanical) problems of the spine. Practitioners of ABC purport that this method is "consistent and predictably effective", and can precisely diagnose patients through either special physical examination procedures[citation needed] or by comparing measurements of sitting and standing full-spine x-rays[citation needed]. TRUE

He claims his system alleviates musculoskeletal, neurological, and organic pathologies through "applying spinal cord relaxation."[citation needed] NOT TRUE

=Thanks Dr. Jutkowitz

The Arabic site

There was no word in Arabic that accurately describe chiropractic. I chaired a committee for WFC last year to select a word that describes chiropractic and also to define what chiropractic is in Arabic and what chiropractors do . The members were a select group of DCs from several Arabic speaking countries including Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia,UAE and others. The choice was to introduce the word chiropractic as it sounds into the Arabic language and to give it an Arabic definition. Sort of like McDonald, Coca Cola and other English names/words that are now a trade recognized word in Arabic.May be you noticed that I am translating the content of the main page into Arabic. I finished the work but I can not post the information because I can not edit that page. Also, I want you to correct the Link to the Arabic wiki as it has extra letter . correct it to: موقع اللغة العربية Alattar 20:11, 4 August 2012 (MST)

Problem solved

I want your advise on how to link the search to Google Arabic and the Arabic Wikipedia. If you would like to see how these sites list Chiropractic in Arabic الكايروبراكتك cut and past in Google search. The account I use is عطار Alattar 16:20, 5 August 2012 (MST)

blank pages

The topic are subjects for students to research: how or why chiropractic helps in these conditions? I expect these pages to be filled within three to four weeks with room to improve with future classes and with more posting. I will take your offer to show me how to link the other WikiChiro to the Arabic site.Alattar 12:57, 8 August 2012 (MST)

let me if i did it right

I did link the sites. Please let me if i did it right. Thanks

Cost Effectiveness articles

Steven,

For now I am just inserting everything and anything into the cost effectiveness paper. As soon as I'v list everything I can think of I will go back and logically arrange all statements in their appropriate sections. Time to get back to Wiki! It was a nice break for the summer though.

Steven,

I am slowly but surely making headway on this article. When I have it organized into a more logical flow and it's done, is there a way to import the entire thing into Wiki?
