Asthma
In treatment of ASTHMA - In 2001, a significant study was undertaken at the Wolfe-Harris Center for Clinical Studies, Northwestern Health Sciences University, Bloomington, MN 55431, USA., and published in the JMPT, and is now available on "PubMed", the National Library of Medicine's website. [1]
A "total of 36 patients aged 6 to 17 years with mild and moderate persistent asthma were admitted to the study". They followed the patients, who were under concomitant medical treatment, for three months. Those who received the "real" Chiropractic treatment vs the placebo treatment, reported "After 3 months of combining chiropractic SMT with optimal medical management for pediatric asthma, the children rated their quality of life substantially higher and their asthma severity substantially lower.".
In 2004, a study was undertaken and published in the "Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology" which showed that there was "reason to entertain clinical trial of Chiropractic in some cases". [2]
It must be stated that some trials, especially those which undertook to evaluate generic manipulation, without a Doctor of Chiropractic involved, demonstrated no significant benefits.
