Erle VanSant Painter, DC, MC was born Dec. 20, 1881, [1] on a farm in Iowa (died in Baldwin, NY Sept. 1968), and received his DC degree from New York Chiropractic College (not related to the present day NYCC). He was one of the earliest known DC's to work in Sports Chiropractic. In 1929 he joined the Boston Braves, and went to the NY Yankees the following year (1930) when he replaced Doc Arthur A. Woods, [2] until 1942, when E. Froelich took over the position, he was employed by the NY Yankees as a trainer. He was credited with "modernizing training methods for professional athletes". [3] Dr. Painter was the first individual inducted into the ACA Sports Council Hall of Fame [4]. He left two sons, then living in Santa Monica, CA. .
