At its Executive session early in 2011, the President and Executive Board of the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic determined to award a special medal to the Past Presidents of the Federation, presumably to distinguish from the FICS' Gold Medal or other awards previously bestowed. Dr. Charmain Korporaal of South Africa was tasked with having them produced, and the first medals were awarded at the 2011 World Chiropractic Congress held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
