In the regulation of food supplements, the FTC's role is essentially limited to assuring that statements made on lables are acurate, as to contents of foods and supplements. In orther words, if the label says the supplement contains 1500 mg of fish oil, it had better cotain 1500 mg of fish oil. They do not force companies to list all components of each ingredient, thus as in the case of fish oil, if the abel says 1500 mg of fish oil, and 150 mg EPA / 250 mg. DHA, then as long as that data is accurate, the company is not required to list the contents of Omega6 fatty acids too.
