At its  Executive session early in 2011, the President and Executive Board of the [[FICS | International  Federation of Sports Chiropractic]]  determined to award a special medal to the Past Presidents  of the Federation, presumably to distinguish  from the [[FICS' Gold Medal]]  or other awards  previously bestowed. Dr. Charmain Korporaal of South Africa was tasked with having them produced, and the first medals  were awarded at the  2011 [[World  Chiropractic  Congress]]  held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. <br>
